Meet the Doctors
Dr. Karunesh Chakote

"I believe every patient deserves a great experience and a confident smile. What I love most about orthodontics is forming long-lasting relationships. Whether working with kids, teens, or adults, I try to make every visit positive and comfortable. I also see orthodontics as a powerful blend of science, technology, and communication. The best results come not just from precision and planning, but from genuinely connecting with the people we care for."

Before joining Gwinnett Orthodontics, Dr. Chakote gained extensive experience in both clinical practice and academic settings. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Pittsburgh and completed an internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He then pursued his specialty certificate in Orthodontics from the Georgia School of Orthodontics, where he served as a faculty member helping to train the next generation of orthodontists before transitioning full-time into private practice.
Dr. Chakote treats a wide variety of complex cases using both braces and clear aligner therapy. He has advanced training in digital treatment planning, mini-screws (TAD) placement, and laser-assisted orthodontic procedures. His approach is grounded in the latest techniques while always remaining focused on what matters most: patient comfort, convenience, and high quality orthodontic care.

Dr. Chakote lives in Decatur with his wife and their four young children, including twins. He understands firsthand the importance of flexibility, convenience, and empathy. When he is not in the clinic, you can find him spending time with his family or exploring ways to make orthodontic care easier and more effective for his patients.

Dr. Janice J. Wilmot

"I love being an orthodontist and seeing the changes both in a patient's smile and in their self-esteem. I enjoy working with children, teens and adults and that I get to know each of my patients and become a part of their lives. I truly feel blessed to be in the dental profession, and feel that I not only give patients a great smile and bite, but they also are taught how to care for their teeth and oral health for a lifetime. The practice logo "Where Smiles Blossom" really captures the change orthodontic treatment provides, and I know that was true for me when I had a severe Bugs Bunny overbite and was extremely self-conscious of my smile. Orthodontics is a blend of science and art that I find intellectually challenging and rewarding."

Prior to opening her private practice, Dr. Wilmot was on the faculty at the University of Michigan in the Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry, serving as the co-director of the Dentofacial Program (orthognathic surgery patients) and co-director of the Cleft Palate/Craniofacial Anomalies Team, as well as seeing private patients in the faculty clinic. After moving back to Atlanta, she continued working at the Emory Clinic with the oral surgery residents and faculty.

Dr. Wilmot opened her private practice in Lilburn in 1997 and has enjoyed becoming active in the community and supporting various school and community groups. Dr. Wilmot and her husband, Dr. George Wilmot, are the proud parents of two sons. She is active in her church, plays ALTA tennis, loves to read, travel and spend time with her family.
