What's New at Gwinnett Orthodontics?

Dear Patients and Families,

For more than twenty five years, it has been my greatest privilege to take care of you and your family through Gwinnett Orthodontics. Building relationships with you and watching your children grow into confident young people with healthy smiles has been the most rewarding part of my career.

Today, I want to share some important news with you personally. I have made the decision to transition and retire from clinical practice. This has been a thoughtful and emotional decision, but the time feels right. I look forward to spending more time with my family, traveling, and enjoying quiet days at the beach.

While stepping away is not easy, I have complete confidence in the future of Gwinnett Orthodontics and the standards of excellence that I want for you, my patients, and for my team. That is because I have found the right person to continue this vision and level of care you expect.

I am thrilled to introduce Dr. Karunesh Chakote, pronounced Chuk-oh-tee, a skilled and compassionate orthodontist who shares the same patient-first philosophy that has always guided this practice. Dr. Chakote is grounded, family-oriented, and relationship-driven. Like me, he believes that orthodontics is not just about straightening teeth. It is about creating an environment where patients feel cared for and proud of their smiles.

Dr. Chakote brings a broad range of experience to our office. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh and completed an internship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The Ohio State University. He then earned his specialty certificate in Orthodontics from the Georgia School of Orthodontics, where he previously taught as a faculty member. He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and stays current with the latest treatment techniques, including clear aligner therapy and communication technology that makes orthodontic care more convenient and comfortable for patients and families.

Just as important, Dr. Chakote understands the real-life experience of being a parent. He and his wife are raising four young children (including newborn twins!) and his approach to care reflects that sense of empathy, patience, and connection. He is the kind of doctor who listens, who leads with kindness, and who believes every patient deserves individualized care and a positive experience. I could not ask for a better fit for this practice or for you, our amazing families.

Dr. Chakote and I will be working side by side over the next several months to ensure a smooth transition. You will continue to see familiar faces and receive the same personalized care you have come to expect. And importantly, Gwinnett Orthodontics will continue to be a place where care comes first and Where Smiles Blossom.

I want to thank you for your trust and support over the years, and I look forward to introducing you to Dr. Chakote at your next appointment.

With much gratitude,

Dr. Janice J. Wilmot
